by Jeff Fisher
The High School Football Huddle

South Panola is back-in-the-saddle with a season opening 38-0 win over Petal Friday night. It was the Tigers first game since last December's loss in the Mississippi 5A championship game that snapped the school's 89-game win streak. The Hattiesburg American has last night's game recap.

In Bay St. Louis, Brett Favre's nephew began his senior season while his uncle was making his Viking debut. Dylan Favre threw three touchdowns to lead St. Stanislaus to a 34-13 win over Taylorsville. Here's the story from the Clarion Ledger.

#1 in Mississippi Beats #1 in Florida

By Jeff Fisher
The High School Football Huddle

At least for Friday night, bragging rights in the deep season go to the State of Mississippi.

South Panola (4-0), the #1 5A school in the state, extended it's win streak to 79-games with a solid 28-18 win over Apopka (2-1), the #1 6A team in Florida before a national television audience on ESPNU.

South Panola junior running back Nicholas Parker didn't mind the glare of the national spotlight, rushing for 242-yards and all four of the Tiger touchdowns.
