Devils Lake Trying To Snap Oh-fer in North Dakota High School Football Championship Games

When Devils Lake pays Oak Grove Saturday in the North Dakota AA high school football championship game, the Firebirds will be trying to end a long drought for the school.

Devils Lake has never won a North Dakota high school football title, and hasn't won a state title game of any kind since the boys basketball team won the 1920 championship. The football program has been to two title games (1949 and 1989) without bringing home the championship hardware.

Saturday's title game will be a rematch from earlier this season when Oak Grove edged Devils Lake 3-0. It was DL's only loss this year.
