The High School Football Huddle
Hard to believe, but the regular season is ending in Alaska today and quite a few states hit the mid-point of the regular season last night.
Several big interstate games highlighted last night's action with nationally-ranked Lakeland (FL) and De La Salle (CA) playing a great game in northern California on ESPN2. Lakeland won a hard fought 31-30 overtime victory, but what really impressed me is this game end at 10:30 PM Pacific Time, which would have been 1:30 AM in the east. Check-out the Contra Costa Times game story.
Two other national games to check-out would be Don Bosco Prep's (NJ) 35-24 victory over three-time Alabama champ Prattville and Highlands (KY) 12-9 win over St. Xavier from Cincinnati, which far and away is playing the toughest high school football schedule in the country.

Finally, props go out to Smith Center (KS), which fought hard to beat Phillipsburg 14-12 for its 71st straight victory, the longest active win streak in America.
