The High School Football Huddle
For the first time since the 9/11 attacks, the anniversary falls on a Friday night. With that in mind, I began looking to see if there are any high school football programs that will be honoring those who lost their lives on that horrific day and the war that have followed.
The answer is yes!
A google search found out that there will be ceremonies at several schools around the country. An Associated Press story reports that the Blaine Bengals in Minnesota will give free admission to all veterans for Friday night's game against Centennial, plus hold a pre-game ceremony. The AP story also reports that ceremonies will be held in Florida, Ohio and Texas.
I'm sure there's more, and if you're aware of any, please email me with the details.
For those going to games tomorrow night, during the playing of the Star Spangled Banner, please take the time to think about those who lost their lives and their families.
