The High School Football Huddle Wants Your Pics Of Your Favorite High School Football Field

My blood is pumping, high school football season is here. Things got started in Georgia and South Carolina Friday, and Alaska, Mississippi and Tennessee join the fun tomorrow (July 31).

Because "The Huddle" is all about the great game of high school football, we want our readers to know about as many teams as possible. I think one of the most unique things about the high school game is the venues. Yes, every field from the enormous ones in Texas to the tiny ones in Alaska intrigue me.

If you've got some shots of your favorite team's field, please email them to me at highschoolfootballhuddle@yahoo.com. I'll post them on the site, and hopefully by the end of the year, we'll have a large database for everyone to enjoy.

We kick things off with two that I snapped over the weekend. Both are in the Chicagoland area.

The first one is of Proviso West in Hillside, Illinois, which is a suburb outside of Chicago. The second and third pic is Oak Park-River Forest HS in Oak Park, Illinois.

So to all that enjoy this site, start snapping and sharing.

Oaks Christian High School Loaded With Talent

There will be a lot of pressure on the Oaks Christian High School football team this year. The team is loaded and this week, ESPN added a little more pressure by announcing that four of OCHS' players are on the ESPN Top 150 for high school football recruits. No other team in the country had more than two players on the Top 150 list.

At the top of the list is quarterback Jimmy Clausen, who is considered the #1 overall prospect. Clausen, who's brothers played at Tennessee, has made a verbal commitment to Notre Dame. Also on the ESPN Top 150 list from Oaks Christian is running back Marc Tyler, who's was ranked the #3 recruit nationwide. Safety Marshall Jones was ranked ninth. Both Tyler and Jones have given their verbals to USC.

The final Oaks Christian player on the list is defensive lineman Michael Ebbitt, who's ranked #132. Ebbitt hasn't made a college commitment yet

North All-Stars "Pass" The Test In Oregon's Les Schwab Bowl

Usually high school football all-star games are low scoring affairs with not a lot of offense. That wasn't the case in the 59th renewal of Oregon's Les Schwab Bowl (formerly known as the Shrine All-Star Game).

The North All-Stars racked-up 521-yards in total offense on its way to a 49-25 win over the South before more than 7,500 fans at PGE Park. Beaverton's Kevin Riley led a North aerial assault that amassed 337-yards in the air. Riley, who completed 16 of 26 passes for 236 yards and three touchdowns, was voted the games's MVP. Riley's next stop will be the Cal campus in Berkley. His back-up, Oregon-bound Cody Kempt was 14 of 27 for 101 yards and two touchdowns.

Big 33 Game Will Stay A Pennsylvania/Ohio Affair....At Least in 2007

Big 33 officials have voted to keep Ohio as Pennsylvania's opponent...at least for 2007. The Big 33's vote came on the heels of some disappointment from the Pennsylvania camp that Ohio may not have supplied its best roster because the Big 33 Game fell on the same weekend as the Buckeye State's very popular North-South intrastate all-star game in Columbus.

There was talk that game officials were considering replacing Ohio with Maryland, which took part in one of the best high school football all-star games in the country. The PA stars played Maryland from 1985 through 1992. Next year's game will be the 50th Big 33 Game.

One interesting note on this game is that every Super Bowl played has included a representative from the Big 33 Game.

West All-Stars Blank East In Washington All-State High School Football Game

Former Stanwood High School star Aaron Boehme scored both touchdowns as the West shutout the East 17-0 in the annual All-State High School Football Game at Everett Memorial Stadium. Even though Boehme ran for a touchdown and caught a touchdown pass, but it was Washington-bound quarterback Jake Locker of Ferndale who walked away with the game's MVP award. Locker completed 3 of 6 passes for 33 yards and one touchdown. Locker also ran the ball five times for 32-yards.
