California High School Football Scoreboard - 2nd Round Playoffs

Coming into the game, Stone Bridge had a 26-game win streak and had outscored opponents by an average of 47 points this year. The Phantoms will play Dinwiddle for the state championship next week. Maine South Runs Its Way to Illinois 8A Title

Coming into Illinois 8A championship game, Maine South quarterback Charlie Gordo was known for winning games with his strong right arm. However, it was the Vanderbilt-bound QB's legs that carried the Hawks (14-0) to a 41-21 win over Hinsdale Central (11-3). Gordo, who entered the game with over 3,000 yards passing and 37 touchdowns, carried the ball 25 times for an 8A title game record 164 yards and a touchdown. HC held Gordo to just 132 yards and one touchdown on 9-of-14 completions. Click here for game story.

East St. Louis Captures First Illinois Title Since 1991

Illinois' winningest high school football team captured its 740th win and seventh state championship all in one game. East St. Louis beat Geneva 33-14 in the 7A championship game in Champaign. The victory capped a great season for the Flyers who lost their opening game in the Kirk Herbstreit Varsity Series and then reeled-off 13 straight victories. Click here for game story.

#16 St. Ignatius Wins Battle of Ohio Against #18 Elder

St. Ignatius (#16 USA Today) showed that it doesn't matter how you start the season, it's how you end it. Saturday the Wildcats, who lost its season opener to Glenville, finished with their 14th straight win to capture Ohio's Division I title with a 28-20 win over Elder (#18 USA Today) before 20,000 at Canton's Fawcett Stadium. Aurora Wins First Ohio State Football Championship

Youngstown Ursuline traded-in its 2007 silver medal for a gold medal on Saturday as it shutout Liberty-Benton 21-0 Saturday at Paul Brown Stadium in Massillon to capture the 2008 Ohio Division V high school football championship. Muskegon Oakridge Gives City of Muskegon Another Title

Muskegon Oakridge's 26-14 win over Ovid-Else gave the city of Muskegon its third title in three tries at this weekend's Michigan high school football championships. In addition to winning the school's third championship in four years, the Eagles stopped the state's top running Chris Robinson from setting a new single-season rushing record. Robinson needed 164 yards to break the record, and Oakridge held him to 117-yards on 14 carries. Click here for a game story.

Center Grove Mounts Big Comeback to Win Indiana 5A Title

Center Grove won its first Indiana state title Saturday and made history along the way. The Trojans rallied from a 19-point deficit with a little less than nine minutes to go in the game on the way to a 36-33 win over defending state champ Carmel at Lucas Oil Stadium. Between the two schools there are eleven Ohio state football championships. Tonight St. Ignatius (#16 USA Today) squares-off with Elder (#18 USA Today) to decide who's the best Division 1 team in the state. St. Ignatius (13-1) has won nine state titles while Elder (13-1) has won two. Elder won back-to-back titles in 2002 and 2003. St. I's last title was in '0l.

Houston Wins Battle of Unbeatens to Capture Minnesota 9-Man Title

Houston captured the schools first Minnesota high school football championship beating Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley Friday in the 9-man championship game at Minnesota's Prep Bowl XXVII. Both teams entered the game 13-0. CGB made a game of it in the fourth quarter coming back from a 14-0 deficit to take a 16-14 lead with five minutes to go in the game. Nationally-ranked Allen advanced to the Texas Class 5A Division I quarterfinals with its back-up quarterback leading the way to a 28-22 win over previously unbeaten Odessa Permian at Texas Stadium on Friday. Junior Tucker Carter was 10-of-16 for 199 yards and two touchdowns while subbing for starter Matt Brown, who sat out the game with a collarbone injury suffered in last week's game. Heritage Christian Claims First Indiana High School Football Title

It's believed to be the fastest run to an Indiana high school football title. On Friday, Heritage Christian beat Cass 17-14 for the Class 2A title giving the Eagles a state title just seven years after starting the program. Last year Heritage Christian lost in the state finals to Fort Wayne Bishop Luers. Click here for game story.

Cardinal Ritter Halts Sheridan's Run of Championships

Sheridan's string of three straight Indiana high school football championships came to an end Friday. Cardinal Ritter scored the game-winning touchdown with 40 seconds to go in the game to lift the Raiders to a 34-27 win in the Class A title game at Lucas Oil Stadium. The loss closes out a four year run for Sheridan, which saw the program go 56-4 with a 44-game win streak. Click here for game story.

Independence continued to roll toward its 9th straight North Carolina high school football state championship game. In what was supposed to be a tough 4AA quarterfinal match-up Friday night, the top-ranked Patriots dominated Butler 49-7. In the regular season finale, Independence beat Butler in a battle of unbeatens at the time. Click here for game story.

Muskegon Adds To The Its Tradition

Michigan's winningest program added another state championship trophy to its case Friday. The Muskegon beat Warren DeLaSalle 34-14 to win the Division 2 title. It's the school's sixth since the state's playoff system began, and 17th overall. Click here for game story.

Holland Christian Tops Michigan's Division 4

Holland Christian quarterback A.J. Westendorp was nearly perfect Friday in leading the Maroons to a 35-20 win over Detroit Country Day in Michigan's Division 4 state championship game. Westendorp set state finals records for completions, passing yards and total yards with a 26-for-33 performance for 318 yards. He had 426 yards in total offense. Lowndes run for its fourth Georgia high school football championship in five years came to a screeching halt Friday night losing to unbeaten Grayson 17-7. Leading the way for the Rams was a tiny running back, who came-up big. 5-3, 135-pound Ean Pemberton rushed for 188-yards and both Grayson touchdowns to move the school into its first state semifinals next week. Sylvania Southview Captures First Ohio High School Football Championship

Friday's Ohio Division II high school football championship between defending state champ Cincinnati Anderson and Sylvania Soutview came down to the last minute. Alex Pidcock's 16-yard touchdown pass to Paul Murphey with 32-seconds to go giving the Cougars a 29-25 win. It was the school's first ever state football championship. Click here for game story.

Montague Finally Wins Michigan High School Football Title

After three state semifinal losses and a loss in the 1992 state title game, Montague captured the school's first ever high school football title Friday with a 41-20 win over Leslie. Bloomington Central Catholic Knocks-off Unbeaten Aurora Christian For Illinois 4A Crown

Aurora Christian's dream season came to a close on Friday at the hands of another unbeaten team. Bloomington Central Catholic (14-0) beat AC (13-1) 37-28 to capture the state 4A title. The loss ended the great career of Aurora Christian quarterback Jordan Roberts who finishes as Illinois' passing yardage (9,752), passing attempts (1,129) and touchdown (127) leader. Illini West Captures 3A Title in Illini West

A couple years ago Carthage high school gave-up a little bit of its identity when it merged with two other high school districts, but the football tradition is still intact. Friday Illini West beat DuQuoin 21-14 to win the 3A state title. Carthage won state titles in 1995, 1998, 1999 and 2000. Click here for game story.

Illinois 2A Title Goes To 15th Seed

When the post-season began last month, nobody gave 15th seeded Immaculate Conception a chance to claim the Illinois 2A state championship. When the clock moved to 0:00 on Friday, nobody was doubting the Cinderella Run anymore as the Knights beat Casey-Westfield 36-17. Immaculate Conception began the run after a 5-4 regular season. Concord Triopia Claims Illinois Gold For First Time Since '75
