Powerhouse Florida Schools Humbled By Out-of-State Opponents

The High School Football Huddle

For those who think that the best high school football is played in Florida, you may want to take note of what happened in the three-game Miami Sports Nike Kickoff Classic, where teams from Arizona, California and Mississippi took down three area powerhouses.

Following losses by defending Class 2B champ Pahokee to Olive Branch (MS) and Booker T. Washington to Chandler Hamilton (AZ), Florida football fans where hoping that defending national champ Northwestern would be able to save face with a win over always tough Long Beach Poly.

That wasn't the case though as the two-time defending Class 6A Sunshine State champ were beaten 29-7 before about 5,000 fans at Traz Powell Stadium.
