#9 Carmel (IN) Comes From Behind To Win On ESPN
By Jeff Fisher
The High School Football Huddle
For three quarters, it looked like Carmel (#9 USA Today Super 25) was going to suffer the same fate that nationally-ranked St. Xavier (OH) did last night in Cincinnati. However, the Greyhounds, behind star quarterback Morgan Newton, were able to erase a fourth quarter deficit to defeat Indianapolis Cathedral 28-21 in a game that was televised nationally on ESPN.
Newton, who earlier this week verbally committed to Kentucky, rushed for two fourth quarter touchdowns for Indiana's defending 5A champs. Newton, who battled cramps throughout the fourth quarter on a very hot and humid day, was 16-of-21 through the air for 194 yards. He also rushed for 89 yards on 20 carries.

The Carmel team was obviously in better physical shape than the Cathedral team. The Cathedral line had at least 25 pounds on Carmel on both offense and defense and it showed early in the game. It was extremely hot and humid on the field, and the heat took a toll on Cathedral's larger linemen as the game wore on. Morgan Newton, the Carmel QB, is the real deal and it is a shame that Purdue let this guy go to Kentucky.
